A Very Special Person

Today my husband and I went to the opening dedication to a new building at CHOP.

This four hundred million dollar project is dedicated to research in the most unique and dedicated way and was the most amazing tour and reception I have ever been at. Without getting into too much detail, one family involved with CHOP for about 60 years were the pioneeries of this project and we were in awe of how the entire thing unfolded perfectly.

There was one person who was there that I have only spoken to and written to in the past 30 years or so. Dr C Everett Koop was a guest and a very important one at that. He is still highly respected throughout CHOP  and the city of Philadelphia as well as the entire nation as our former surgeon general. I had a few moments to speak with him being that he is now 93 years old and was not feeling very well. We spoke briefly for those few minutes and not only does he remember me quite clearly, he told me he “thinks of me very often.” I wanted to have a picture taken with him, but he was not well at all and had to leave the event. My prayers go out to him and so happy to actually see him in person after all of these years. My day was complete after that meeting!
