A Wonderful Donation

As many of you know, my closest friend Nancy recently lost her battle to brain cancer. Her husband Glen suggested in her obituary that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to The Alesia Shute Foundation. This gesture truly touched my heart since Nancy has been my right hand and my sounding board for almost 3 years since my book and Foundation began. Even after becoming ill and losing her speech, I still bounced ideas off of her– happy with a nod or smile of approval or disapproval. Putting some thought into this act of kindness from her family, I decided to do something a little extra special with these donations along with a large portion of book profit money which everyone knows is already directed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

In Nancy’s memory, the Foundation will be donating $3000 to CHOP to child life services. We will be purchasing the Chemo Duck which will be gifted to over 140-150 individual children. This duck is a tool used to make life, treatments, and any procedures less stressful for the child.

Nancy not only had brain cancer, she had survived two breast cancers ten years apart and was an elementary school teacher. She is my hero. I know she is smiling down on us now happy to help so many unfortunate children. Follow the link below to see more on this special gift.  I know Nancy would be proud!
