Back to School?

As kids, teachers, and parents all over the country, or probably the world, prepare for the return of the school year, there are some who may not be up to the task of returning to the classroom. I’m not speaking about those who homeschool, but those children who may be too ill to return to the class. I often speak and write about trying to keep life as “normal” as possible. The start of the school year is the test for parents to maintain normalcy. I realize there are situations when your child is in the hospital or may be too ill to do school work you can only wait it out until they reach a point they can concentrate. When a child is not able to be around others due to germs, too weak to attend for days at a time, or whatever the reason may be, keeping a routine – trying not to let them “feel” the absence of being around friends, keeping them up to the class and classwork, and giving them the experiences that others have on a daily basis – is the true challenge. Staying strong, positive, and giving the little push they will need for when they do return is a hard job but must be done. I wish you all luck and send some of my strength to get the task at hand done.
