Being There for Others

I spoke a few days ago about my friend who just had surgery to remove one of her breasts. It had been a week since surgery and I felt I needed to hear her voice. Knowing she had been blindsided with a quick mammogram and then removal all within a month, I know she needed the time to heal both mentally and physically.

When I called, she answered the phone and sounded so good. She was strong, positive, and eager to move on with doctor appointments, reconstructive surgery, and especially her life.

I felt relieved to hear that strong woman I knew before, back in action. Her life has been saved and although there is still testing and a long road of recovery ahead, she sounds ready to face it all head on.

When she does feel the need to “fall” I want to remind her that not only does she have her husband, she has us, her friends, her posse, to be there for her as her right and her left arms. That is what life is all about.

Be there for others and know that your true friends will be there for you. Surround yourself with those who truly love you and rid yourself of the excess. Love that we spoke my friend, and love that I can share good news with my followers. Have a great weekend everyone!
