Dealing With a Sick Child

I often think of my parents and what they went through while I was ill as a child.

It saddens me to imagine the pain and difficulty they faced as parents to three children, one of them incredibly ill. When I was sitting with the families at the Ronald McDonald House the other night, I looked into each and every parent’s eyes, and there I saw both my mother and father; The stress and the sadness, the uncertainty they felt about what would happen next and when. I know that the parents were thinking where their path would take them next, what would happen after they conquer this recent problem. Carrying that stress must have been more of a nightmare than a reality. The reality is, that each and every parent I spoke to and gifted my book, just like my parents did, are dealing with the cards they have been dealt. First of all they have no choice, and second, this is their path, and hopefully they will let me into it by reading my words and responding via email. I know if my parents had something to read to ease the pain and to let them know they were not alone, they would have definately searched for that hope, and held onto it.
