Favorite Summer Memory

This past summer was a tough one. It was hard to find a single memory that was on the positive side since we had so much going on this summer health wise- my husband was unable to care for himself most of the summer with a back issue and could hardly move, I got diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and I tore my shoulder and had a back issue bringing me to therapy for 8 weeks. We had a terrible storm in the middle of it all and had no power for about 5 days making the stress we were under almost unbearable, but as usual, you are in it and deal with life issues as best as you can. In the middle of it all, we tried to remain normal and have or granddaughters come over for visits and overnights. This is something we both love just as much as both the girls. My vivid memory for this summer and the one that gave me the most joy in the midst of all that was going on was when the girls fished for the first time and caught a catfish off of our neighbors dock. The looks on both their faces was a treasure I will keep forever and boy did my husband and I need that moment of joy in our misery. The fish of course went back into the river, but the memory stayed with them all summer. Now we need to catch something a bit bigger in the near future and who knows what else they will conquer in our company.IMG_1018
