Getting Together with the Girls

The next thing I declare as very important in the ‘Year of You,’ is not forgetting to do things for yourself. Even though you may be caretaker, in charge in some way of a sick child (or even a family member who is an adult), you cannot forget about yourself. I have often blogged about this before but kept it general. I declare that everyone do a night out, a mini trip, or a quality day together with the girls (or guys, depending upon your gender). Recently, I went with a close friend  to a clothing demonstration in a private home. There were only about 10 women of which we both knew a few. We had some wine, some munchies, and a lovely evening chatting, laughing, and trying on clothes together. How nice it is to bond with others with no real agenda except shopping, and enjoying the company of others.

It could be something as simple as that or an hour getting a manicure or pedicure with a friend, lunch, dinner, just coffee or a drink, a movie, a cooking class, or something you think of doing that you just never take the time to do. I assure you that if you take this time once in a while, you and everyone else will see a change, a relaxed state, a sense of worth that you somehow lose sight of along the way when dealing with the stress of illness. As demanding as life is, you can take a small piece for yourself , I promise that it is OKAY.
