Hanukkah Reflection

Since we are moving forward through December and all of my favorite holidays, keeping it together during those times is a bit challenging. For me instead of dwelling on my recent issues I feel like a reflection on the past is in order. Try to stay focused during the holidays, even though you are dealing with someone who may be seriously ill. I am reflecting on a time when I was about 17 years old and spent all of the holidays hospitalized for surgery and recovery. Although it was a bit strange for me and especially my family, it gave me time to begin to put life in check. We learned first hand that we can celebrate holidays on any day, and family and friends are most important. Being together, something my parents made certain we did even though I was removed was most important. The gift of “time” became my one and only friend. I was still here on earth to share my life with everyone, and time was most important, not the holiday or the gifts. They are secondary. Concentrate on what is most important and let the rest just fall into place. It really works.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season. As we begin the first night of Hanukkah, I’d like to express my thanks for the blessings that have been given to me and my family, and I hope that you take the time to reflect on the wonders and blessings in your life.
