Loosing Someone Special

We just went to a funeral of a wonderful lady we have known for many years. Phyllis had dementia for the past few years and still remained as lovely as the day we met her. Many, many years ago, even before we bought our restaurant, we were customers there and met her and her husband at the bar one evening. They also owned some businesses locally and together we would chat and share “war stories” of the business. After we sold our restaurant, we frequented a few places locally and would run into each other periodically. They were such a handsome couple, always put together and always seemed so very happy together. I never once saw either of them not together and enjoyed chatting with them whenever we could. In the past few years, we noticed Phyllis not fully in conversation but still always happy and again put together. I admired her always and would often say, “When I grow up Phyillis, I want to be just like you.” She would smile and thank me. Last time we ran into them, she smiled but I knew immediately she did not know me but we still had our kind of normal conversation. Still so very lovely but failing. Recently she had a stroke and passed in her late 80’s, with no suffering and from what I heard, all dressed and ready to go out. I even believe that she may have had a smile on her face. Such a sweet and classy lady, who will most definitely be missed. I salute you and will see you in heaven my friend. SONY DSC
