Mothers Day

I hope each and everyone of you had as nice a mothers day as I did this year. The only thing missing is my son who is still away and will be home this week. I guess it was as close to perfect as it could be. This being the ‘year of you’ had me thinking and I felt it should really be all about me and what I would like to do. So, when my hubby asked what I wanted to do, my answer was……. nothing!  We have been in the nightclub and restaurant business since we met. Working holidays and weekends has been the way our lives have been for a long time. Having sold our restaurant and with my husband just about retired, we can choose when and where we want to be on weekends and holidays. My weekend was quiet and I told him I wanted it that way. Saturday is just as crazy as Sunday in the restaurants, so my choice was to go to the fish market and buy food for dinner for both nights. I woke up on Sunday, had coffee, breakfast and read the paper. That is a normal Sunday for us. Then, since the weather was so very beautiful and I had bought flowers to plant on Saturday, I gardened. I also read my book that I have been working on, napped, and then we cooked clams and spaghetti for dinner. Wow, it was just wonderful. It was nice to have time to do all of this and not feel rushed by needing to be somewhere… and it was quiet! I spoke to my son who was on his way to work and told him how very much I missed seeing him and longed for him to come home to make me laugh and smile with his stories. So, if your day was as wonderful as mine, then hurrah for all of us. Wishing all my sister-mothers a wonderful  and a healthy summer.
