My Puppy: The Best Therapy Ever

Although I still call him my puppy, in March he will be 4 years old. I am not certain where the time went since it seems like yesterday I came home with this 2lb pup for my husband as a Father’s Day gift. And even though I told him that the puppy was for him, he was truly a gift to us all and we are blessed to have such a wonderful pet.

His name is Ponch and he gives us so much joy that there is never a day that goes by when we do not look at him just to smile. The pleasure reminds me of my dog Beepo, a beagle, that was given to me as a child when I was so ill, that both my parents and doctors felt that this pet would be therapeutic for both me and my family. The truth is, that this gift was most likely they best gift I could have been given as a sick child since Beepo became not only a great companion, but my best friend.

She not only slept with me nightly, but she also went to my therapy sessions with me and was the most loyal friend anyone could ask for. I often suggest a pet for sick children, understanding they are extra work, but the love you receive is better than any medicine, therapy, or treatment mentally for not only the patient, but for everyone involved.
