My Sister

My sister finally got her chance to read my book. So many memories flood back when they are buried deep from childhood and when something enters your brain through an event or reading,it somehow makes you remember.

She admits to not remembering most of the things that happened since she was so very young and always with someone else watching her while my parents tended to me. What she does remember is that “she never had me.” This means that we missed something while growing up because of everything I went through, and she has suffered in a way that cannot be fixed. We did not get the normal sister bonding and although we are close now, she has suffered deep down inside from this and I feel so sad. The only thing we can be thankful for is that we are now close and our families are close.  When a family member is ill, everyone in the family is ill. We all suffer in one way or another. At least my sister understands why this happened and we have the rest of our lives to make up for it. Cherish all that you have.
