Pediatric Stroke Conference

I was at CHOP last weekend for the Pediatric Stroke Conference and what an amazing experience it was! I had the opportunity to meet the parents of young stroke patients as well as some of the patients themselves.

Most of the younger children who are patients stayed at home but we were able to meet some teens who have suffered strokes. Wow! It is hard to imagine that someone at the age of 13 or 14 can have a stroke. These kids were truly inspiring to me and just lovely to sit and chat with. Some you could not even tell had been ill. Their recoveries were miraculous–They went from having a stroke to learning to walk and speak again as well as move some of their limbs. Each child  was different and each child brought something new to the table. They made posters, shared stories, and were very open and willing to share with me, loving that I shared with all of them. It was an honor to speak with them all and I wish them good health and strength throughout their lives. Hats off to Lois for putting this event together and I hope to work with them again in the future!
