Public Pages

When we are on social networking sites such as Facebook, there are many many “public” pages that we come across. I am taken aback by the number of prayer pages, fan pages, etc. and how often they are “shared” because of the compelling story they are created for. I just want to remind you that you should be aware, if you are not already, that these are all public pages and ANYONE can see them. Everyone has access to these whether you look for them or they somehow pop up through a facebook connection gone viral. Treat these pages as such. You have a choice to “like” this page or not, become a “fan” or not, but remember that you might want to limit a comment so as not to not be too personal in any way since everyone can see it and in turn potentially see your page. Going for advice is only good if you keep your personal life and information exactly that, personal. If you want to create one of these pages, be sure to limit exact personal information like your address and remember that you may open yourself for comments that you might not find appropriate. Though people have the best intentions, it may not be conveyed that way. As always, be smart and be safe when using any type of online source to share your information.
