Putting Life into Perspective

Spending 8 days in the hospital with an obstruction of the bowel definitely put life into perspective.

I was able to only concentrate on ME and worry about Me.  I missed the wedding of one of my closest friends, but what could I have done to change that, absolutely nothing!  My son was preparing to graduate college the following week, what could I do about that, absolutely nothing!  When there is a crisis in the family, the family has no choice but to adjust.  I spend my life helping others cope with these issues and more, but this time the tables turned, and I was the one struggling to cope with my situation.  I can honestly admit that the memories come flooding back, though it was almost 20 years ago since my last serious bout.  Writing my book, sharing it with all of you, and knowing I have helped so many get through these exact situations, has helped me build the strength to get through this terrible ordeal.  I thank you all for that.  Also, I want to share that, not only did I not need surgery this time, I made it to my son’s graduation.   I am one proud mama!
