I have been home from the hospital for 5 days. It seems like a slow process but if memory serves me right, every day is a bit better.
I have to remind myself that because it is TRUE! You need to take a deep breath, and take it slow and listen, REALLY listen to your body. Each day I am able to conquer a bit more. Even the small quests, which are daily routine chores for all of us, seem like a major obstacle. When you can’t do anything for so long and then you try to do something, it is a major accomplishment. Celebrate the accomplishments, don’t dwell on the obstacles! The first day home I could barely make my own cup of tea without having to sit down in between. Just showering was a big job that took so much energy, I had to lie down to rest after I was finished. Today – Day 5 – I did laundry, made my breakfast, and was able to go out on my own to take care of a couple of routine chores. I’ll admit, I did have to lie down and take a nap when I returned, but there is major improvement and a “light at the end of the tunnel”. Of course, I did not need to have another surgery which plays a major role in my recovery. Also helpful was the fact that I work out 4-5 days a week under normal circumstances and eat right almost all of the time. This all adds up to a rapid recovery and looking forward to a normal routine in the very near future. I can actually begin to see that…”Everything is going to be Okay!”
