This weekend I am so thrilled to be visiting not one, but two Ronald McDonald Houses.
On Friday night, we will visit the Camden, New Jersey Ronald McDonald House, to cook and serve dinner, and on Sunday we will visit the location in Philadelphia, just to meet new people and sign some books to gift away. It will give me and the folks joining me a chance to truly connect with others as we share stories, listen to what the families staying there are going through and offer some advice and comfort. How many people get a chance to share like this?
These families will find that these times are truly a test of their personal strength and endurance and that they can get through them. I hope to encourage each person to push through the rough times every day and remind them that they are not alone. I have been there. I have walked that mile in their shoes and I am by their sides, in my book, cheering them on. I promise to try to give these families the extra strength and hope they might be needing, and will even listen to them if they want to call or email me after they have finished reading my book. It is a great gift to give people who are struggling. And taking the time to listen and truly hear what they have to say is also a gift. I thank those individuals in advance who will open up their hearts and allow me to share the hope that I believe helped my family and I make it through the struggles of my childhood illness.
