Social Events

At one point, it was a “fad” to email your event invitation, especially for “budget” weddings. There were sites dedicated to this phenomenon, but I’m not sure that it ever truly caught on. These days, social networking sites such as facebook allow you to set-up events, both public and private. These types of invitations are socially acceptable, but there is something to be said about receiving an important event invitation in the mail. Not everyone who has a facebook page may use it on a regular basis or even understand what is being asked of them. Be mindful of the importance of an event and, if possible, remember proper ettiquette over socially acceptable. There is a time and place for everything, and you should think twice about taking the easy way out if you think that it might offend some people. There are many useful applications to “creating an event” (which I will share my thoughts with you on Thursday), but remember that people still like to have that personal connection whether it is putting the invitation on the refrigerator or keeping it as a momento of a special day!
