Someone To Lean On

Now that I am an author and  a survivor, it only seems natural that I help others. I call it a “gift”. As difficult a time I had in my life, and continue to have at times, I am very interested in helping others. By creating my foundation it made it a bit easier to reach out and give back. I can also take others on this journey with me, which is both rewarding for them and for me. I speak often about really knowing how it is to feel and be sick. I was that child and I have walked that mile in their shoes. I sometimes come across people who question why I do it and what exactly I do. They are uncertain about me when they meet me since on the outside if you would meet me for the first time you would have no idea anything is, or ever was, wrong with me. I surprised so many people when I shared my story in my book. Sometimes you cannot judge a book by its cover. I politely explain that I really do know what they are going through and what they will go through during their lifetime. I can be a crutch, a sounding board, or just a smile for those who feel everything is going wrong. I share my story so that they can know I am with them on their journey. It is my calling!
