The Diagnosis

Not knowing was the worst part for my parents and doctors but that did not last forever. One moment we are getting a final test, the next moment my parents world is turned upside down.

Ulcertive Colitis was what was wrong. They could have just spoken a foreign language to my parents, since back in the last 60’s early 70’s this disease was foreign. In laymans terms, Cancer of the Colon and Large Intestine. This is something children just did not get, at least in those days but here I was, the “prodigy child”. The next few years was turmoil but we made it. Fighting the diesase and proper treatment kept me alive. The cancer, aggressive but the doctors at Children’s Hospital, even more aggressive. Don’t give up!
