The Heat

I cannot believe the heat wave was so bad through June. Our first heat wave came in May, I think, and it was difficult to get through. You want to stay in the house and keep the air running. Going out just to water the flowers is an effort and keeping up with the heat is a challenge for most of us. I often worry about the lederly or people with health problems who have no air conditioner and how they deal with this. I worry about animals being left without enough water and children not drinking enough liquids. My husband’s cousin passed away the other day and we had a graveside service today in 98 degree temperatures. It was only a half hour service but it was difficult to stand there and not drip. We were all huddled under a small tree looking for shade and waiting for the next breeze to come by and slip through our bodies. I felt bad even thinking about the heat when our poor cousin has passed. At least I am here, healthy and full of life. We were not able to linger too long and chat with the family since the sun was beating on us, but we all were able to say our goodbyes and move on. Did you have to endure the heat and be outside for anything special? Let us know…
