Travel With Family and Ill Children

Travel, in some capacity, is something most of us enjoy. Some of us like short day trips, mini-weekend getaways, exotic vacations, or longer breaks over a week or two. Personally, I enjoy going away. Planning how to pack. Accepting the challenge not to over-weigh the suitcase. It has become an adventure to fly while bringing only what you need. There’s no room for error unless you want to pay a hefty price. Driving is nice, making the road trip an adventure all on its own. Whatever you decide, whatever your pleasure, it is important to take any sort of trip. It will ‘reload’ you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Everyone always feels better after a trip. There is nothing like a little rest and relaxation to help us with our stress levels and to help put life back into perspective.

Travel with a sick child is even more challenging and needs special patience and planning. If you need to take medications, special medical equipment, etc., make lists and check and recheck. Do not opt out of traveling with a sick child. It’s good for him or her (and the rest of the family) to get away as well. Although, remember to put into consideration the stamina and needs of this child while planning. Take breaks and always be prepared. Even a chat with your doctor will make life a bit easier. Don’t overplay each day or you will disappoint everyone including yourself.
