Traveling with an Ill Child

I recently returned from a road trip with my hubby and puppy. It was a very long drive from New Jersey to Florida, but we made an event out of it and even enjoyed our hotels on the road. Since we had a little stay in Florida, it was worth having our car and our dog with us. During the trip, I spent quite a bit of time thinking of some shorter car trips I took with my family as a child while I was very ill. I remembered having to stop so often that I’m now surprised my parents even wanted to take me with them. I know they wanted to give all of us, including my brother and sister, a vacation that was fun, affordable, and doable, even if I was ill. I do remember thinking I was not really having fun since I spent more time in the bathroom than on the trip, but there were some moments I treasure. One of them is just being with my family. If you are wondering if it is too much hassle to travel with your ill child, JUST DO IT! Even for a night or two, provided the doctors give you the go ahead. It will be worth it to you and them for years to come.
