Treasure the Moment

stormOne moment you are fine, the next, bang, disaster hits, a storm, an illness, a crisis that you are not prepared for. All I can say is that handling the moment with grace and ease is the best way to survive any crisis without making yourself crazy. Deep breath in and conquer the moment. Assess the situation, be logical about the possible outcomes, and move forward. I know this is easier said than done, but it will work if you can grab yourself and wrap your head around the problem immediately. For example, we in Southern New Jersey were recently hit with a terrible storm leaving downed trees, power outages, exploding transformers, etc. For days in the heat we were uncertain as to when life would be back to normal. After a few days, power was up again, for a few hours, and then down, then again the same over the next couple of days. We knew that the crews were working and of course there was frustration in the heat and the turmoil because we had no running water or power which just adds to the frustration. Immediatley, even though I was overwhelmed I assessed the situation. We could not change the predicamant, but we could conquer it. We managed, stress and all, as did all of our neighbors, helping each other and keeping communication open for help throughout the area. I am not saying we were happy, calm and not ready to scream, but we did make the best out of the situation and moved forward. Good Luck with your next crisis and think of me.
