Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we like to use this month to raise awareness to everyone who will listen! Having people understand the impact of childhood cancer, how many of us who are stricken by this disease, and survival rates are a few of the topics that are continuously brought up. Although we try to bring awareness to everyone throughout the year, this month of September is special, especially to me. I remember all that I have been through in my life, where I was at age 7 with all the turmoil of this disease, and now in my 50’s where I am now and who I have become. Over the many years since I fought my battle, the survival rate has risen to over 80% but the suffering, the treatments, and all that we go through to get from point A to point B is staggering. It can happen to any one of us, any one of our children, at any moment, so pay attention and become aware of what is happening around you. Caring and listening to the message of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is imperative to gaining control over this terrible disease so that one day, possibly in our lifetime or our children’s, we may be able to put cancer behind us. Take control of being aware, earn a gold ribbon and do something good for someone whose child is suffering from cancer. Pay attention to all they go through, lend a helping hand, and most of all, pray for their strength. Help spread the word and fight for our children!!!
