Volunteer

When a disaster happens, everyone needs help. They may not think they do, but they do. Although it is nearly impossible for most of us to physically go to Oklahoma and volunteer, there are ways for everyone to be of help. We can send monetary donations through reputable organizations or get involved in food and supply drives that will be sending needed items directly to victims. Remember in the case of Oklahoma, many of these people have lost everything they had, from homes to clothing, toys, food, and all household items. If you can organize one or just join in with an existing one, these drives are very important. Starting over has to be very traumatic to all involved, so please dig as deep as possible.

Here at home you can get involved with numerous organizations for many different things. Think about what hits home for you in your heart. Food banks need donations and volunteers, as do hospitals. There are so many ways to give back. When I was a child and hospitalized, the volunteers would come and play or do crafts with us. Even watching a movie with me was appreciated company when family members were not around. Everyone needs someone to lean on during hard times, and I’d love to hear ways that you suggest or actually do give back.
