I recently had something done that is still considered experimental in this country. I have two small tears in my right shoulder and a full tear in my left. They happened a year apart and not from anything very strenuous I was doing for either one. I spent a year trying everything to avoid surgery but could not get relief and then I injured the second shoulder. Before I made my final decision of when to have surgery, I looked into stem cells and platelets. After two different consults I decided to give this option a try since the down time for recovery is almost nothing compared to a year for each shoulder. Of course with anything, there are no guarantees but it seems worth a try to avoid surgery which is so evasive and, from what I hear, extremely painful. It will be a long time before we really know if it has worked but I am taking the risk and stepping out of the box for once. Yes, I follow all the rules of life and only on rare occasions do I not.
