A Welcomed Volunteer

I recently went to a conference at CHOP, the Volunteer Leadership Summit, and brought along one of my volunteers for a wonderful experience. William and I spent the day in Philadelphia, along with many other volunteers that help at The Children’s Hospital.

Everyone there did something different for the hospital, from just playing with the children to doing things like reading, rocking the babies, and fundraising in all capacities. All of us gathered together, enjoying a few meals, listening to speakers, watching as volunteer awards were handed out, and also attended workshops to help us understand and improve what we do in whatever capacity we help.

Helping the kids was the focus of the day and I was very humbled to hear what everyone else had to share. The people I had the chance to meet were very excited to hear about who I was and what I do and some had even heard my name before.

It was a very rewarding day and one of my friend sand volunteers, William, who is 19 years old, left with a new sense of pride. By helping me and all I do, he also is a welcomed volunteer of the hospital, and it was truly a great experience  for us both.
