Vomiting was something I did often with a bowel obstruction. When I say vomiting I mean possibly ten times a day, for weeks at a time!
Although the doctors did all that they could to stop it, getting sick was powerful and sometime stronger than the medications. Sometimes it was even the medications that made me sick. Dealing with it was difficult, since my husband had to be subjected to holding the pan and then rinsing it out each time I got sick. As all of us know, vomiting usually makes whoever is nearby feel as if they are going to be sick. I use to think that “he must really love me to hold the pan and clean me up each and every time I was sick. You have to really care that much more for a person to help them through something so terrible.” I use to joke with him when I felt better at time that, “I would not have to throw up for the rest of my life after this ordeal.” What a terrible feeling of not being in control and needing to depend on others to help you.
