Here They Come

I know it may be a bit early but the hum of chatting about our Hummingbird feeders has been abuzz. For some reason, it has been a topic a few times this week and then I got a text that they have been spotted in the state of New Jersey. With that said, I have a small feeder outside billowing in the wind and sun waiting with bated breathe. These small creatures have earned a special place in my heart from just being whimsical and putting out one feeder a few years back with a strategic mix of food, the special feeders that they like, dislike, and who is the bully of the feeders. We join them in the morning for coffee at the windows of our kitchen and throughout the day all spring and summer by our pool just watching, waiting, and smiling when they appear. The children and guests in our home are fascinated by the population of hummers that we have and the tremendous amount of sugar we purchase throughout the season to keep our new found friends fed properly. We google over the speed and elegance they give to us in their show of sport to eat and dodge each other throughout the day. Go away a few days you ask during the summer months? Seriously an issue and becomes a new chore for a neighbor or friend who must stop by twice daily to make certain the feeders are full. We would not want to disappoint our friends now would we. DSCN2299
