Homecoming

Over 4 months since the destruction of Sandy and we are finally moved back into our home. It seems surreal that we have been displaced like thousands of people and now, we are a few of the lucky ones who are back home. Sleeping there for the first time in months was so comforting and emotional. But like I said while speaking at my Evening of Inspiration last Saturday and I’ll say it again, “emotional” is not even a strong enough word for what we have been feeling.

We rented a home about one mile from our flooded house while it was being renovated and we felt blessed that we were able to be so comfortable and so close to the construction. It made the situation just a little easier and we feel lucky for that.

As far as being back in our home: The house had to be totally gutted all the way to the joists. Everything in the entire first floor is new, including all the doors, windows and floors. The outcome is beautiful and I feel like crying with joy. We are blessed. I do think of all those who are still out of their homes every day because I understand what you they are going through. I pray that they are able to be back in their homes very soon!
