Long Lasting Impression

Giving birth to my son, my only child, 22 years ago is still the most accomplished thing I have ever done in my life. I reflect on this often and the more I think about it the more I’m still amazed it. For those of you who know me personally, you already know all the amazing things I have done, but this still sits on the top of my list of life accomplishments. I have survived so many major surgeries, marathon hospital stays, and endured pain and suffering throughout my life. I have done so many remarkable things from meeting Dr. C. Everett Koop and traveling the world. I’ve run numerous nightclubs with my husband and remained married to the same person, whom I still love dearly for over 30 years. I have masterminded many fundraisers and worked them from beginning to end, and wrote a book. I could go on and on, but the gift of birth still to this day is my most accomplished task.

Wow, that really is pretty awesome to write and to think it.

To think that a real live person grows inside of you and that you alone give this gift of childbirth, and then to bond and raise this little person and watch this person grow into something so special, it  just takes my breath away. I was blessed with a healthy child, but I often think about wanting to help others who give birth to unhealthy children and know this is where I belong. Tell me your most lasting accomplishment.
