Mommy Bags

For the past few years, I include my books in things called “Mommy Bags” pioneered by a lovely women from CHOP. She does this project on her own and has people donate personal items to her so that she can make up individual gift bags for about 30 moms who are (kind of) living at CHOP while their children undergo treatments. When she brought me on board it was uncertain if I could actually manage gifting 30 books without any extra fundraising help. I run my foundation very closely and since I am small, I depend so very much on outside donations to help. I proceeded to reach out in an email blast and amazingly enough within one day I have enough donations pledged to this endeavor. This is my third year and I want to express my appreciation to those folks who are involved this year. Because of your generosity, 30 moms will not only have shampoos, perfume, sock, puzzles, candy, hair ties, and other personal items, they will have a copy of Everything’s Okay (comic version). My initial dream was for parents to be gifted my book upon entering the hospital with their child as a tool to not only pass time, but to enlighten them from the words of a child, myself, who lived it and totally understand what they and their child is going through. Though that orignal goal was not able to come to be, this is a small way to pursue my dream! Let me know if there are other gifts where we can include Everything’s Okay!
