Mother Nature…continued

I often blog about this, probably because it is utterly fascinating and I can’t stop thinking about the weather and how we have no control over it. I also think about technology–now, our friend–and I often wonder how we managed without it. Back “in the day,” we looked into the sky and saw the storm a ‘comin. Now, we follow the clouds, measure the atmosphere, send out drones, etc., and even though we don’t always get it right, we now have warning and opportunities to prepare. I was on the beach recently on a vacation, and I watched the sky begin to clear after a morning of downpours. It turned out to be a picture-perfect day but only for about two hours. We were relaxing, but the sun was so very strong we decided to call it a day before those two hours were up. We left not due to the weather but the strength of the sun on our skin. As we walked to the car, we noticed dark clouds building and moving in. We stopped to pick up some lunch at the market and got to the house just in the knick of time. The sky opened up and it was so bad our parking lot flooded and this went on for hours. After about four hours of rain, the evening sun began to set in. On our way to dinner, it was absolutely breathtaking. How can you make sense of weather like that? As much as I’d like to, I know there is a science behind it I may never understand. I just remain in awe and go about my life but continue watching the forecast each and every day.
