Reflecting on 2012 – When it Rained…it POURED

We have all heard the saying, “when it rains it pours”, but that felt like much more than the case when Superstorm Sandy came to town.

Though I knew that “this too shall pass”, it didn’t feel like it at the time. It was hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had lost the entire first floor of my home and my father was extremely ill at the time. I was worried about him and consumed with trying to get things in order to take care of our home. We were fortunate to plan day trips with my dad and that helped to make things a bit easier.

No matter what we did, our home was always on our minds and consumed so much energy. Everyone was dealing with similar problems and we were just waiting our turn for insurance and assistance. It was a tedious process but it was necessary to get everyone the help they needed. Now that we are back home, we are able to focus our energy on being there for others who are still in need.

I know there are others out there who were much less fortunate than we were and those who are still suffering so very much with this same situation or with something far worse. I wanted to say that I know how you feel, what you are going through and yes, again I am walking the mile in your shoes. Stay strong my friends!
