The Gift of Giving

file9911262472235Every year, for as many years as I can remember, my husband and I donate to a few favorite charities so that others can celebrate the holidays even though they may not be able to afford it. We love to see that many people can have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and that all the festivities that follow are welcome in different homes throughout the area. We also donate to CHOP for pediatric aids research with the hopes that someday, hopefully in our lifetime, we will find a vaccine or maybe even a cure to this horrible disease. We decided long ago that the “Gift of Giving” is far more rewarding than receiving gifts and that is what we try to do each year. It’s not that we do not appreciate the gifts we receive since it is always nice to receive a gift, but giving to others is so satisfying. Everyone can do it whether you have the funds or not. Even a small donation of $1- $5 when you can spare it is wonderful and helpful. Doing what you can when you can will help the world go round and bring smiles to the most unfortunate faces. Someday, I do hope that those who we give to will be able to reach out and help someone in the same way. Think about it and give the gift you can. It will make your day, I promise.
