To Our Hospital Volunteers

I have spent a lot of time in the hospital in my life and I have been very lucky with doctors and nurses and the care I have received. I have also been in many different hospitals and have had many different experiences. We need every one of those employees to make the well oiled machine – the hospital itself – run smooth. But, without the volunteers, the unsung heroes of the operation, this well oiled machine could not function at all. Volunteers help out at the front desks, they deliver newspapers, they sit at the information desks, they visit patients, they deliver flowers, they raise money for different departments to help the patients be more comfortable, they do all the things we take for granted. From all my experiences, they are just as important and the paid staff and should not be forgotten. They only ask for or need a smile, a hug, a simple thank you for their acts of kindness since that is all they ever wanted. They are filling an important void and I just want them to know that we recognize that they are out there and we appreciate all they do. Thank you!!
