No matter what we do, what we say, or how much we try to deny it, winter will be sneaking up on us whether we like it or not. I love the change when the air becomes a bit chilly and the sweaters come out, but then shortly after, the drop goes right to my bones and does not leave me until spring. I try to wish the cold away and even swear that it could never have been this cold before, but to my surprise, yes, it has. We love to complain, but then the first snow comes and I, like most of you, embrace it and savor the entire day. Then, it’s over, I am done, ready to move on to the next season, only to be torchored for another 5-6 months. Yes, we can laugh about it in the summer but winter will appear again just a few short months later. Moving away from the cold was often a strong thought, but leaving family and close friends for that permanent length of time would sadden us all. We love the closeness we have and we enjoy seeing everyone as often as we can. It’s nice to be just a car ride away from most everyone and that is something that we don’t want to change.
The good thing is we are only a plane ride to escape it if we cannot bare it any longer. The few days that are spent someplace warm will break up that hopeless feeling that the cold will never go away.
