I have been reading, pondering, thinking, and meditating over the recent loss of Dolly Parton. I needed to digest all I could before I put as they say pen to paper. I did not even think about blogging on this but the more I read, the more I realized how important it is to share some thoughts and opinions. No, nothing outrageous and negative, but more heartfelt and thoughtful. Dolly, where does one begin? We have watched so many special people and not so special people pass away over the years, some worthy of a celebration of their lives and some not so much. I personally was saddened when her passing was announced but the outpouring over the world is staggering. We grew up with Dolly Parton. She never ever said anything off color, retained honesty throughout her career, and let’s not forget the amazing writer, singer, and actress she was. Is remarkable the perfect word? Maybe. She came from absolutely nothing, never showed any bitterness from that, never complained, walked to the beat of her own drum, and never ever missed a beat. She exploded with kindness and her smile warmed your soul. Whether you listened to her music or not, we all knew the hits, and her talent was like nun other. I personally do not know how we can celebrate her but I do know we are all trying our best. Dolly was one of the most generous celebrities, her philanthropy just jaw dropping, giving away most of her wealth to help so many in need. This does not in any way make light of the generosity of so many celebrities who give so much back to the world. Dolly was a quiet angel who will never ever be forgotten. My hope is that everyone who reads this and all the tributes will attempt to try to put some extra thought and energy to help others in any way they can. Making the world a better place has always been my goal, my dream. Any act of kindness, kind words, a meal, or a gesture to let someone know they are not alone is yet another step in the right direction. If we all commit to this each and every day there could possibly be peace on earth, less hunger, and enough love to go around.
