I just finished reading Carmen Tarteton’s book, Overcome: Burned, Blinded, and Blessed. It was written and published by the same company and publishers I work with RTC.
The feelings, strength, and courage that Carmen shared, the most intimate details anyone could possibly share, is nothing short of awe inspiring. Carmen is more than a hero. She is unlike anyone I have ever read about or met and she deserves all the success and happiness that sharing her story can give her. I understand she wrote this book to help others suffering from domestic abuse, but anyone can get caught up in the pages of her life and her pain, something I will never be able to forget. She brought me into her life and let me sit and watch every detail of her first happiness and then her pain of being beaten, raped, burned and scarred for eternity. She turned what could have been the end into a new beginning for herself and her family, giving her two daughters and her parents and sister something to remember in her legacy. Carmen, my hat and heart go off to you and I wish you peace, happiness and love for the rest of your days my friend.
