I have read all the posts on Facebook, the articles in the newspapers, and the television documentaries, reminding us about where we were on 9/11 at the moment the Towers were struck. The images and memories are embedded in our hearts and souls for all eternity. I have cried, I have obsessed over the news, our safety and our future, just like all of the world has. I know that we cannot change what happened, cannot go back, and it creates deep sadness when I do see a documentary replaying the moments and images. It was so surreal, that I cannot even imagine it could or would happen again. The problem is although we are safer and more cautious than we were 10 years ago, there is still evil in the world and it can and probably will happen somewhere in the world again. The only thing we can do is pray, hope, and do the right thing, being cautious and aware of our surroundings.
I do know that no matter what, being an American means for me to have faith in my country, and believe that we can overcome anything that ‘evil’ throws our way. You know why? Because we are strong. We are resilient. We are survivors.
