Father’s Day

Every year for the past, maybe, 7-8 years, we have had a Fathers Day shindig at our home. We invite the entire family and a couple of close friends over for a late afternoon barbeque, just to all be together. We do not always throw this on Fathers Day proper, but try to pick a Sunday in June that all can try to attend. Good food, drinks and desserts flow in and out of our house along with swimming, sunning, catching up, and just plain hanging out. Seems like everyone looks forward to this gathering including even the dog. He embraces the day as if it’s a gathering just for him. Putting that aside, it feels good to share an afternoon and evening with everyone and, for those who stay the night, the day ends after breakfast the following morning. I encourage everyone to try to gather family as often as you can, but if you cannot, pick a few key times a year and it will become a ritual that will always be looked forward to. Hats off to the family for making the effort to gather and hats off to our continuing to have good times together.
