July 4th Reflection

Nothing like being American and celebrating July 4th with friends and family! I appreciate all we have here in the USA and on days like the 4th, I am reminded of how proud I am to be who I am. There is so much turmoil in this world, and even in this country, but when I think about where we live, what we have, and the freedoms I take for granted…I can only say, “thank you”.

I am not very political, and shy away from controversy since it often only manages to upset people, but if we continue to have the freedoms to fight for what we believe in, then we are further ahead than some cultures. I am saddened when I read about women in other countries having no rights whatsoever or people being killed by their own just because they feel like killing. It is because of these atrocities and the freedoms that I am granted every day, that I raise my head high and feel good about being an American. We have people from all over the world coming here to educate themselves and then choose to stay here to work, raise families, and begin new lives. Although there is much controversy about all of this, there must be a good reason they want to stay! I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July and took some time to remember what this special day was all about!
