The Alesia Shute Foundation Holiday Update

I

I’ve been thinking about sharing an update for some time, and I’m finally sitting down to write it. The Alesia Shute Foundation hasn’t been a central focus for a while, though we’ve continued doing small things to stay active and present. Many of you know I hinted at retiring some time ago, but I never made a formal announcement.

Over the past two years, my husband and I have experienced several health challenges, and dedicating the time and energy the foundation deserves has become increasingly difficult. As much as I deeply love the work we’ve done — even long before the foundation was created — it has been an honor and a gift to serve, to write my two books, and to share our journey with the world.

I want everyone to know that we are still here. My books remain available for purchase directly through me, as well as on Amazon and Blurb. If you are interested in buying or gifting them, please feel free to reach out. I am also happy to arrange donations of books in larger quantities to nonprofits that would like to distribute them.

I also want to acknowledge someone very special: the wonderful Marie, who has overseen the Mommy Bags project for more than 20 years. Our foundation has proudly supported her for over 14 of those years. She is now retiring from this beautiful work, as age and energy make it harder for her to continue. Her dedication brought joy to so many families spending holidays in the hospital. If anyone feels called to take over this project, please let me know, and I will happily connect you with her.

At this moment, I’m simply unable to manage anything larger than this, and I can’t predict what the future holds. For now, my books remain available, and donations to the Alesia Shute Foundation can still be made by personal check, Venmo, or cash. All donations are fully tax-deductible and will continue to support The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), helping make hospital stays more comfortable for children of all ages.

Please feel free to reach out to me personally via email or through my website with any questions about the books or donations. Thank you — truly — for everything you have done, for your support, your kindness, and the memories we’ve created together. I’ve loved every moment of this work. Keep me in your thoughts, and please enjoy a wonderful holiday season.

I’ll continue to post or blog from time to time. I’m still here — just resting for now.

With gratitude,
Alesia
